LinkedIn image sizes at a glance
LinkedIn doesn't publish a file size limit for post images, or how the feed crops them. Where it's silent, we say so instead of guessing.

Images in a post
LinkedIn's apps take GIF, JPEG, PNG and WebP, and HEIF or HEIC from an iPhone. Through the API it's JPEG, GIF and PNG. An image can be up to 36,152,320 pixels, about 36 megapixels.
There's no published feed size, so we make 4,096 px on the long edge, more than a feed shows. And with no published file size limit, the resizer saves once at quality 85 instead of squeezing the file.
A post through the API can carry 2 to 20 images. GIFs keep moving: up to 250 frames through the API, while the help centre says 500.
Alt text can be up to 4,086 characters, but LinkedIn recommends staying under 120. The box beside the resizer counts to both.
Your profile
Profile photo
At least 400 × 400 px and no bigger than 7680 × 4320, up to 8 MB, and not a GIF. LinkedIn asks for a photo that needs little cropping, and doesn't say which formats it takes here, so the resizer offers all three it can make.
Cover image
1584 × 396 px, as a JPEG or PNG of up to 8 MB.
LinkedIn Pages
A Page logo is a PNG or JPEG of up to 3 MB: at least 268 × 268 px, and 400 × 400 recommended. A transparent logo shows on white, so check it against a white background.
A Page cover image is 1512 × 256 px, which LinkedIn gives as both the minimum and the recommended size, up to 3 MB. LinkedIn may trim it to fit the screen, so keep the edges plain.
Link previews
LinkedIn builds a link preview from the page's og:image tag. It asks for at least 1200 × 627 px at 1.91:1, under 5 MB. On a Page post, an image under 200 px wide shows as a small thumbnail, and other shapes show in full with white padding.
Why we make these sizes
- Post image and Several images. LinkedIn takes up to 36 megapixels and doesn't publish a feed size. We stop at 4,096 px on the long edge, more than a feed shows. LinkedIn doesn't give this size, so it's our pick.
- Profile photo. LinkedIn takes 400 × 400 up to 7680 × 4320 and asks for a photo that needs little cropping. We make an 800 × 800 square: twice the minimum, so it stays sharp on high-density screens. LinkedIn doesn't give this size, so it's our pick.
- Cover image. LinkedIn recommends 1584 × 396 px.
- Page logo. LinkedIn recommends 400 × 400 px for a Page logo. A transparent logo shows on white.
- Page cover image. LinkedIn recommends 1512 × 256 px for a Page cover image.
- Link preview image. LinkedIn asks for at least 1200 × 627 px at 1.91:1.
Does Shaflex check my images for LinkedIn?
Yes. Shaflex checks every image you attach against LinkedIn's media rules as you add it, whether the post goes to your profile or a company page. If a network can't take an image, the post still goes to the networks that can, with a note saying why. The image editor works inside your draft: crop to a network's size, put a screenshot in a device or on a backdrop, and blur what's private.
